Budgetary support for palle baata proposed

HYDERABAD MARCH 28. The Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, has said that the Government proposes to extend budgetary support to the Rajiv Palle Baata Programme (RPB) in 2005-06 and promised to make concerted effort to redress the grievances of people in a limited time frame.

Mr. Rosaiah was replying to a question raised by TDP member,

D. Umamaheswara Rao, and others during question hour in the Assembly on Monday. He said in all the Chief Minister had given 1,048 assurances during his tours. Dr. Reddy had covered 444 villages in 126 mandals across 46 constituencies. As on March 15, the Government had fulfilled 598 assurances, which accounted for 57 per cent.

He said that the expenditure on the programme was being met from the departmental funds available during 2004-05. However, a sum of Rs. 91 crores had been proposed under the programme. Depending on need, the Planning Department would provide amounts to various departments to fulfil all assurances, he added.

Residential school

The Social Welfare Minister, Redya Naik, told the Congress member, E. Pratap Reddy, that plans were afoot to establish a residential school for the physically challenged in Kurnool district.

RTC losses

The Transport Minister, S. Santosh Reddy, said recruitment of Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors and other employees, which would be done soon, would check to a large extent the illicit plying of private vehicles resulting in losses to the RTC.
