BANGALORE, MARCH 28. People from villages on Sarjapura Road on staged a demonstration near the Belandur Gate on Monday and blocked the road to protest the acquisition of land by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) for forming roads to the proposed high-tech city, off Electronics City. The protest, by people from Koodlu, Kavanahalli, Bovipalya and Kaikondanahalli in Koramangala police station limits, affected traffic on Sarjapur Road for nearly an hour. They claimed that the BDA was acquiring more land than was necessary for forming roads from Sarjapur Road to the proposed high-tech city. They said their villages were well developed and had several houses, and the BDA should reconsider its plan to acquire land.
