BANGALORE, MARCH 28. Seven more engineering colleges and one dental college have decided to fill their management quota seats through the Undergraduate Entrance Test to be conducted by the Consortium of Engineering, Medical and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) on May 1. With this, the number of dental colleges attached to COMED-K has gone up to 25 and the number of engineering colleges to 44. Fifteen medical colleges are also attached to the consortium. Among the engineering colleges attached to the COMEDK are: Bangalore College of Engineering, City Engineering College, B.N.M. Institute of Technology, Venkateshwara College of Engineering, Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Reva Institute of Technology, Canara Engineering College, JSS Engineering College and R.V. College of Engineering. The R.V. Dental College has also joined the consortium and the S.D.M. Dental College has decided to go along with the minority colleges' association. The consortium had set Monday as the deadline for new colleges to join as members. Several colleges had evinced interest to fill their management quota seats based on the COMED-K scores, particularly after the Government decided not to allow non-Karnataka students to appear for the Common Entrance Test. With the addition of eight more colleges, the COMED-K expects about 35,000 students to appear for its test to be conducted in 12 cities Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Belgaum, Bijapur, Davangere, Bellary, Dharwad, Udupi, Shimoga, Bagalkot and Gulbarga.
