Maid arrested in Madhavaram robbery

CHENNAI, MARCH 28. The Madhavaram police have arrested a maid servant, who has been accused of gagging and tying up an elderly woman at KKR Garden before robbing her of jewellery weighing 35 sovereigns and Rs. 7,000 in cash.

A team led by Dr. M. Sudhakar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madhavaram, made the arrest today and recovered the property, police said.

On questioning, she confessed to using a crowbar to break open the almirah in which the jewellery and cash were kept. After removing the valuables she escaped.
