Letters to the Editor
Sir, The earthquake off Sumatra on Monday and the resultant loss of lives have again demonstrated nature's fury and the utter helplessness of human beings in the face of such disasters. Coming as it did after three months of the killer tsunami, it was no surprise that it sent waves of shock and panic throughout South-East Asia and India. It was a reminder that nature cannot be taken for granted. Preparedness is the only weapon with which such eventualities can be tackled.
