Shimoga
By Our Special Correspondent
SHIMOGA, MARCH 29. The Shimoga District Industries' Association will hold a demonstration here on Thursday to urge the district administration to supply LPG as fuel for vehicles at a reasonable price and allow vehicles already fitted with gas kits. The association president, K.S. Anantharamaiah, told presspersons here on Tuesday said that the vehicle owners, who used gas kits were harassed by the Transport Department officials. He said if the domestic cooking gas is found in short supply because of vehicles being run on gas, the district administration should make arrangements to supply gas for vehicles at commercial rates. "Instead of doing this, the officials are harassing the vehicle owners by imposing penalty and ordering gas kits to be removed from the vehicles," he said. Mr. Anantharamaih said it is the Government that encouraged vehicles to be run on gas when there was scarcity of petrol and diesel 10 years ago. This resulted in a large number of vehicles being fitted with gas kits at a high price. T.V. Narayana Sastry, honorary president of the association, was present.
