Geared up for any eventuality: Army officer

HYDERABAD,
MARCH 29.
The Army is in a high state of preparedness and ready to move fast to help people in the event of a natural calamity, according to Lt. Gen. B.S. Takhar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command.
He was speaking to presspersons after participating in the annual day celebrations of Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation.
The officer said on receiving the alert on Monday evening about the earthquake in Indonesia and the possibility of a tsunami, troops in the Southern Command had been put on guard.
"It will take only hours for them to move in wherever required," he said.
