WARANGAL, MARCH. 29. Family members of the Maoist leader, G. Kumaraswamy alias Yellanna, have appealed to him to join the mainstream. Speaking at a medical camp organised by the Kazipet police on Tuesday, the naxalite leader's mother, Chandramma (65), urged him to take care of her as she was at the fag end of her life. She recalled how she brought him up by labouring hard and dreamed to see him as a successful man in society. However, he dashed her hopes and joined the banned extremist organistion. Yellanna's brother Pochaiah and sister-in-law Laxmi, who worked with the Maoist party in the Bastar area of Chhattisgarh for 16 years before surrendering, made a similar appeal to him. They regretted having joined the extremist organisation and ruining their lives. "We underwent family planning operation while in the outfit. As a result, we are now childless,'' Laxmi lamented.
Medical camp
The Kazipet police organised a medical camp on the occasion and distributed medicines and fruits to the family members of underground cadre. Dr. Venkat Reddy, who treated the patients, promised to extend medical aid whenever required. Addressing the gathering, Subedari CI, Chandrasekhar Avadhani, CI Srinivas Reddy and Kazipet SI Wali Mohammed urged parents to request their children to give up arms and come out of naxalite outfits.
