COIMBATORE, MARCH 29. Airtel has launched `Orey Tamizhagam' (One Tamil Nadu) tariff plan with single local calling rate across the State, thus removing the disparity terms of tariff between the Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles. Under this new scheme, tariffs for both the Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles stand unified for a subscriber while roaming. Hereafter, customers can call mobiles and landlines across the State at one local call rate. For Tamil Nadu, customers roaming in Chennai, incoming calls are free and any outgoing call within the State is at the local rate. The same benefit is available for Chennai customers roaming in Tamil Nadu. "It is the endeavour of Airtel to integrate the Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles into one and to give the tariff advantage to customers," said the Chief Executive Officer of Bharti Cellular, P. Swaminathan. Airtel had planned a huge network rollout with over 1200 cell sites by May to make its presence felt in 150 more locations. Airtel was already present in about 270 locations with nearly 1,000 cell sites.
