COIMBATORE, MARCH 29. BPL Mobile, as part of its aggressive network roll-out plan, will install 100 more cell sites in 100-days to propel the coverage and strengthen its existing network across the circle. Commenting on the future plans, the Chief Operating Officer of BPL Mobile (Tamil Nadu Circle), R. Suresh Kumar, said BPL mobile had been adjudged as India's best mobile service in the latest nationwide survey conducted by International Data Corporation (IDC) across GSM and CDMA service providers. With over four-lakh subscriber base in Tamil Nadu, the company's focus now was on network expansion. Already 40 cell sites had been installed in the first phase of the drive. To provide congestion-free service, the third MSC mobile switching centre was commissioned in January to accommodate another 4.5-5 lakh subscribers. The next phase of network capacity enhancement, to be concluded by the first fortnight of April, would witness its imprints in major pilgrimage and tourism destinations such as Udhagamandalam, Kodaikkanal, Rameswaram and Tiruvannamalai and towns such as Samayapuram, Manaparai, Srivilliputhur, Sirkazhi, Kayalpattinam, Navakarai, Manamadurai and Thirukkovilur." Once the network expansion gets completed there would be robust growth in the subscriber base," Mr. Suresh Kumar added. The company was also focusing on expanding its service. The value added services platform had received the requisite boost with the launch of Live astro predictions, Mobile Extras, 789 Send a song and 777 voice portal services. BPL mobile had planned to upgrade its network by extending the GPRS core facility to Tamil Nadu.
