SALEM, MARCH 29. The Regulated Marketing Committee will construct concrete pathways and a stage for the vendors in the Uzhavar Santhai in Sooramangalam, near here, at a cost of Rs. 5 lakhs. The narrow alleys of the market turn muddy during rain. The market gets around 3,000 consumers and 300 farmers a day. In Sundays, the number doubles as the market sells fresh vegetables at cheap rates. Now, a half of the total area is under construction. The remaining part will be taken up soon and the toilet in the market will also be renovated, sources in the regulated market committee said.
