ERODE, MARCH 29. Shopkeepers on Brough Road today downed shutters from 6 a.m. to noon in protest against the police action demanding the Peria Mariamman Temple authorities not to allow shopkeepers to encroach upon the main road. Later they submitted a memorandum to the police requesting permission to allow them to use some space of the main road during the festival period. However, the police asked them to abide by the orders of the temple authorities.
