BANGALORE, MARCH 29. Bangalore University, for the second year, has recognised the contribution of its student sportspersons and honoured them with certificates and cash awards. At the top of the list is the current World billiards champion, Pankaj Advani. The young student of Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain College received a citation as well as a cheque for Rs one lakh. Advani was elated that the university was encouraging its sportspersons and with the continued support hoped that India would soon be able to produce Olympic gold winners. Dr. M.S. Thimmappa, Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University, said, "You have achieved a distinction that you can be proud of individually," he said. The achievements are no less than what other students achieve in academics, the Vice-Chancellor said.
