THRISSUR, MARCH 29. Four persons were killed when the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a container lorry on the National Highway at Kuttanellur near here this morning. The dead have been identified as Malarkandathil Veettil Nissar (40) of Chullikkal near Thoppumpadi, Karippalam Sharaffuddin (40) of Mattancherry, Kalluveettil V.M. Abdul Basheer (41) of Fort Kochi and Ershad Seth (36) of Bazaar Road near Mattancherry. All of them were engaged in the trade of old building materials. The accident occurred when they were returning after participating in an auction in Chennai. The car had been completely crushed. While two of them lost their life on the spot, the other two breathed their last on the way to hospital. The police said cash to the tune of Rs.2.20 lakhs and demand drafts for Rs.7.5 lakhs were recovered from the car.
