CHENNAI, MARCH 29. Over seven lakh students appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination, which started today. The examinations will end on April 8. Schools campuses were filled with groups of students in uniforms huddled over textbooks for a final revision. This year 7,68,815 students, including private candidates took the examination in 2,492 centres across the State. There has been an increase of 24,782 students compared to last year. In Chennai district, 36,849 school students wrote the examination in 183 centres. Girls (19,611) outnumbered boys (17,238). The results of the examinations will be released by June first week.
