NELLORE, MARCH 29. The district Collector, B. Rajsekhar, has expressed concern over the concept of under-financing by some banks and financial institutions. Addressing a workshop organised by the State Khadi and Village Industries Commission here on Tuesday, he referred to a complaint by a woman that a bank at Bogole had given only a part of the agreed loan which had resulted in the scheme not getting grounded. The Collector wanted a fair deal to beneficiaries by financial institutions. He advised people not to aim for Government jobs alone and instead choose self-employment opportunities which had great potential.
`Change mindset'
"One has to change the mindset," the Collector said and noted that globalisation had thrown open a number of opportunities in fields such as information technology. The State Director of KV&IC, K. Mohan Rao, said that a subsidy of Rs. 16 crores had been earmarked for 2004-05 which, he said, was the highest after Uttar Pradesh. Assistance from banks had also gone up to Rs. 27.95 crores. He said 62 self-help groups in the State had been funded and they had been doing well. Earlier, some women participants complained about delay in releasing margin money by banks.
