13 houses damaged in Congress-TDP clash

GUNTUR,
MARCH 29.
In a clash between supporters of the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party, a Congress worker was injured and 13 houses were damaged in Manchikallu village of Rentachintala mandal of Guntur district on Tuesday.
The village, known for political clashes, witnessed a feud in the morning between the two sides in which the Congress worker, Venna Srikantha Reddy, was injured. In retaliation, Congress workers attacked the houses of TDP men with sticks, bombs and axes.
The Gurazla CI, G. Penchala Naidu, said while none was injured in the second attack, a television, tape recorders and furniture were destroyed.
Special party police was rushed to the village and a permanent picket set up to bring the situation under control.
