HYDERABAD, MARCH 29. Can a tender estimate for an irrigation project go up by Rs. 381 crores in a span of few hours on the same day? Well, if the Government intends, it could inflate the figure to any extent, TDP and CPI leaders alleged while highlighting this fact, at separate press conferences here on Tuesday. N. Janardhan Reddy, Deputy Leader of the Telugu Desam Legislature Party, released a printout of an e-procurement tender notice no. 4/2004 of January 19, 2005, kept on the Irrigation Department's website, for the Stage II Phase I of the Sripada Sagar Project (Yellampally project), for developing an ayacut of two lakh acres. He wanted to bring several such "irregularities" to the notice of the House but he could not as the discussion on irrigation tenders was not taken up. The CPI floor leader, Chada Venkat Reddy, too told presspersons that he had brought this fact to the notice of the Irrigation Minister, Ponnala Lakshmiah. This information was passed on to him by the TRS legislator, K. Lingaiah.
