TDP stages protest
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
MARCH 29.
The Leader of the Opposition, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and his party colleagues staged a dharna near the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Assembly premises, protesting against the way the discussion on irrigation tenders was not allowed in the House.
Carrying banners and placards and shouting slogans against the Government, the members came out after the House was adjourned.
As the gate to the statue complex was closed, they staged a demonstration outside.
Mr. Naidu said it was unfair and unfortunate that as many as 36 budget demands had to be guillotined without discussion. Owing to the stubborn and unresponsive attitude of the Government, he regretted that his party could not raise several issues affecting different sections of people.
