Relief for private schools

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 29. The Haryana Education Minister, Phool Chand Mullana, today announced a one-year extension up to March 31, 2006, for private schools and establishment of a committee to review the norms and other regulations prescribed under the Haryana State Education Rules, 2003, including area, number of classrooms, teachers and salaries.

Mr. Mullana said that the committee would be set up under the Chairmanship of the Director of Secondary Education and would submit its report within a month.

He, however, clarified that the verdict of the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the closure of all private schools operating from residential premises would be implemented.
