Metro gets Rs. 600 crores
The "brief outline of yen-loan projects for the financial year 2004'' states that the Delhi Metro project is aimed at mitigating traffic congestions and preventing environmental pollution. Noting that it is fast under progress, the note said when all the lines become operational by March 2006, the system is expected to carry 2.26 million passengers a day, nearly the same volume that Tokyo metropolitan subway carries at present.
Spotlight on road safety
Organised by the International Awakening Centre, an East Delhi-based organisation, a number of students from various schools of the Capital participated in the event. The head of the organisation, Majaz Mungeri, distributed booklets on road safety rules to the students and teachers on the occasion. The International Awakening Centre that has identified various accident-prone areas of Delhi had also organised road safety awareness exhibition at Kalyanpuri, Trilokpuri and Patparganj in the recent past.
