THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 29. The 2653 Kochuveli-Hazrat Nizamuddin Kerala Sampark Kranti Super Fast Express, the first train to commence service from the newly constructed second coaching terminal at Kochuveli, will be flagged-off by the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, tomorrow. The Union Minister for Railways, R. Velu, will preside over the function being organised at Kochuveli at 10.30 a.m. The coaching terminal, billed as a satellite terminal to the central railway station, has been constructed to ease the congestion at Thiruvananthapuram Central. The station building of the Rs. 12 crore-first phase of the coaching terminal is yet to be completed. The inaugural Kerala Sampark Kranti Super Fast Express will depart from Kochuveli at 10.30 a.m. It will reach Kollam (11.35 a.m.), Kayamkulam (12.12 p.m.), Alappuzha (1.25 p.m.), Ernakulam Junction (2.45 p.m.), Thrissur (4.15 p.m.), Shornur (5.15 p.m.), Kozhikode (7.17 p.m.), Kannur (8.47 p.m.) and Kankanadi (11.55 p.m.) before reaching Hazrat Nizamuddin on April 1 at 12 noon.
Regular service
According to the railways, the regular service of the 2654 express from Nizamuddin will commence on April 4. The train will leave Nizamuddin at 7.25 a.m. on Mondays to reach Kochuveli at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. The 2653 express will leave Kochuveli on Fridays from April 8. The train will depart from Kochuveli at 6 p.m. to reach Nizamuddin at 6 p.m. on Sunday. The train will have a first class AC coach, one AC two-tier coach, eight sleeper class coaches, four general second-class coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans.
