NEW DELHI, MARCH 29. A 75-year-old man and his wife were allegedly beaten up by their neighbours following an altercation over garbage disposal at Rohini in North-West Delhi on Sunday. While the victim has been admitted to the hospital, the accused have been arrested. According to the police, the incident occurred around 11-30 a.m. when R.P. Goel, his son, Sachin, and daughter, Nidhi, allegedly went to the flat of Laxmi Prasad Sharma, who heads the resident welfare association in Satyasai Ekta Apartments at Rohini, Sector 13, and entered into a heated argument with him and his wife over the issue of garbage disposal. It is alleged that Mr. Goel and his family members overpowered Mr. Sharma and his wife and thrashed them. One of the accused allegedly hit Mr. Sharma on the head with some blunt object. After the police were informed, Mr. Sharma was taken to the nearby Bhagwati Hospital where his wound had to be stitched. While the police registered a case of attempt-to-murder in the evening after conducting a preliminary inquiry, the three accused were arrested and sent to the Tihar Central Jail today.
