MANGALORE, MARCH 29. A pillion rider on a motorcycle was killed in a road accident on Kalleri-Saralikatte Road in Uppinangady Police Station on Tuesday. The police said the victim, K. Mohammed (32), was riding pillion with Puthu Monu when the accident occurred near Saralikatte. Mohammed, who was injured, died on the way to the hospital. Uppinangady police have registered a case.
Crushed
A student was crushed under the wheels of a lorry at Gollithottu along National Highway 48 under Uppinangady police station limits on Monday. The police gave the name of the victim as Hussein (7), a resident of Janata Colony at Gollithottu. The police said the incident took place when the boy, who was crossing the road was run over by the lorry trying to overtake another vehicle. Uppinangady police are investigating.
Suicide
A man, said to be frustrated at not getting a share in his ancestral property allegedly hanged himself to death at Ira in Bantwal rural police station limits on Monday. The police identified the victim as Ramesh Shetty (38). A case has been registered. Investigation is on.
