Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, MARCH 29. The sky will be partly cloudy on Wednesday. The maximum temperature will be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 26 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.3 degrees Celsius. The humidity was 79 per cent. Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.6 degrees Celsius. The humidity was 76 per cent.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday in the Nanganallur area.

Medical camp

The Ayyappa Seva Samajam, in association with the Meenakshi Dental College and Hospital, the Arvind Sai Eye Hospital and the Vaidyaratnam Oushadasala organised a free medical camp at the Samajam's charitable medical centre in Mogappair on Sunday. Over 300 patients were treated by specialists and 10 were taken up for cataract operation. Free spectacles were also given away on the occasion. The Chennai Telephones Chief General Manager, K.B. Brahmadathan, inaugurated the camp.

College fete

The Founders Day of the Madras Sanskrit College and the annual day of the Savitri Ammal Oriental Higher Secondary School were celebrated on Monday.

Delivering the presidential address, S. P. Thyagarajan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Madras promised all help to the Sanskrit College from the University.

B. Madhavan, College secretary, N. V. Deviprasad, principal and S. Manimekalai, headmistress of the school also spoke.

Workshop

Fair Trade Forum will organise a workshop on Thursday on `Fair Trade and Ethical Business Practices' at the University of Madras.

The workshop held in association with SIPA, University Students Advisory Bureau and Department of Management Studies, University of Madras is open to students of management studies, social work, commerce, economics, corporate secretaryship and allied subjects.
