Appeal to residents

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI, MARCH 29 . The Tiruchi Corporation Commissioner, Harmander Singh, has appealed to residents welfare associations in the city to cooperate in the ongoing door-to-door enumeration as part of an intensive revision of electoral rolls ordered by the Election Commission in the Corporation limits.

Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the associations here recently, Mr. Singh said some were not cooperating by providing full details of eligible voters in their families. The associations should promote awareness among the residents.

The residents should produce their Electors Photo Identity Cards to the enumerators and ensure that the details were recorded. Those who had failed to do so could produce the ID cards to the supervisors along with the acknowledgment slip given to them. Residents should also desist from seeking to include the names of family members who were residing outside the city.

Water supply

Mr. Singh, in a Press release, has also appealed to the residents to prevent wastage of drinking water in their household. Pointing out that the Corporation was initiating steps to conserve water, Mr. Singh warned of stern action against residents who failed to check wastage, especially by letting their sumps overflow.
