A-I direct flight for Chicago

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, MARCH 29. Air India has become the only airline in the country to introduce direct flights from Hyderabad to Chicago without change of aircraft en route.

To start from Wednesday, AI will introduce two direct Boeing 747-400 flights to Chicago from Hyderabad in its summer schedule. Flight AI-127 on Wednesdays will depart at 3 a.m. from Hyderabad and reach Chicago at 4.05 p.m. via Mumbai and Frankfurt. On Fridays, flight AI-129 will leave at 3 a.m. from Hyderabad and reach Chicago at 3 p.m. via Mumbai and London's Heathrow airport.

Earlier, passengers were required to disembark at Mumbai and board another aircraft to fly to Chicago. With the new service being introduced, passengers' transit time at Mumbai is effectively reduced from the earlier waiting period of four hours to one and half hour. The services will be operated on Boeing aircraft with first class (flat beds), executive class (slumberettes) and economy class configuration, according to an AI release here on Tuesday.
