THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 29. The Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) has demanded that the Government reconsider the amendment provisions that have been retained in the Patents Bill as per the conditions of Trade-Related Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), including that of product patent. Though pressure from the Left parties had forced the Government to drop certain provisions in the original ordinance, the amended Bill had many anti-people clauses that would result in a steep hike in drug prices, the KSSP said in a statement here. The Government should show the political will to put up strong resistance against TRIPS at the international level, it said.
