THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 29. The Government today handed over documents pertaining to the 11.15 hectares of land needed in the first phase of construction of the modern terminal on Chakka side for the international airport in the city. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, handed over the Government Order to this effect along with a revenue map with survey numbers and site plan with dimensions to the Airport Director, Narinder Kaushal, at the Legislature Complex today. Mr. Chandy said the remaining 37.63 hectares for the terminal would be acquired under the Fast Track Project and handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in phases from April this year. Mr. Kaushal said the terminal would have an area of 20,000 sq.m. and would be able to handle 11.8 lakh passengers annually.
