FIR ordered against India TV CEO
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI,
MARCH 29.
A Delhi court today ordered the Delhi police to lodge an FIR against Rajat Sharma, chief executive officer of India TV, its three employees and two other journalists on a complaint by a former Bharatiya Janata Party MP, who was among four politicians shown on the channel last month purportedly in a compromising position with unidentified women.
The Metropolitan Magistrate, Sanjiv Khanna, directed the court staff to send a copy of the order, along with a copy of the complaint, to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, and the Station House Officer of the Parliament Street police station for compliance with its directions.
He directed the DCP and the SHO to investigate the matter and file a status report in the court on or before May 5.
In the complaint, the MP alleged that the CD on which the channel claimed to have captured him was false and fabricated. Also, the CD clipping was forged with the help of the latest technology with the active connivance of the accused persons, he alleged.
