Clear sky forecast

The maximum and the minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 33 degrees and 19 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday was 32.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 17.5 degrees Celsius. At Palam, the maximum temperature was 33.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum 17.8 degrees Celsius.

The maximum humidity recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 72 per cent, while the minimum humidity at the two places was 16 and 22 respectively.

Rickshaw puller nabs robber

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, MARCH 29.MARCH 29.MA A young rickshaw puller nabbed a robber who was allegedly fleeing after snatching a bag containing Rs. 28,000 in cash from a 57-year-old man at Sultanpuri in North-West Delhi today.

According to the police, Sewa Singh, a security guard with a MCD primary school in Poonth Kalan in North-West Delhi, had withdrawn Rs. 28,000 from the Sultanpuri branch of the State Bank of Patiala around 11 a.m. He was returning home when a man snatched the polythene bag from him near a petrol pump at Begumpur Mor in Sultanpuri.

Mr. Singh raised an alarm which alerted a rickshaw puller, identified as Rafiq (25), a resident of Budh Vihar in Sultanpuri, who was waiting nearby. Rafiq gave the man a chase and managed to catch him. Subsequently, the police were informed.

The police said apart from the robbed amount, the accused, identified as Surender (25), a resident of B-Block in Sultanpuri, was also found in possession of a knife.

Arrested for alleged murder

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, MARCH 29.MARCH 29.MA A 65-year-old man has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly killing his son at Gokulpuri in North-East Delhi on March 26. According to the police, the incident was reported from Babu Nagar in Gokulpuri in which one Nawab Ali was stabbed. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Inquiries had revealed that Nawab's father, Mangta, had stabbed him in a fit of rage following an altercation over a minor issue. Mangta had managed to escape after allegedly stabbing his son. He was arrested on Monday from a park in Gokulpuri. Further investigations in the case are on.

Padyatra for harmony

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, MARCH 29.MARCH 29.MA To promote national integration and communal harmony in the country, the third Sai Sadbhawna Padyatra 2005 covering a distance of 1, 500 kilometres across various States will pass through the Capital on April 17. The padyatra will pass through Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and will finally culminate at Sai Gaon Sapnawat in Ghaziabad.
