India qualifies for junior World Cup

NEW DELHI, MARCH 30. India has qualified for the fifth edition of the junior women's World Cup hockey (under-21) to be held at Santiago, Chile, in September, according to the Indian Women's Hockey Federation (IWHF).

The first phase of the coaching camp for the event would be held in New Delhi from next month. As many as 37 players will attend the camp.

The federation also announced that the prize money for the All-India Invitational women's hockey tournament has been increased. The winner will now get a purse of Rs. one lakh, while the runner-up will get Rs. 50,000.

Probables for junior World Cup: S.S. Nilan, Rajni Bala, Nisha Singh, Shubhra Kathuria (goalkeepers), Ramneek Kaur, Anjana Barla, Sushila Lakra, Sumitra Tirkey, Joydeep Kaur, Rajesh and Harjinder, Anna Merry Bara, Subhadra Pradhan, Anjula Toppo, Th Ranjita, Sameena Raza, Gagandeep Kaur, Bharti Prasar, Ranjit, Manjot (full backs), Jasjeet Kaur, Asunta Lakra, Dipika, Amrita Ming, Premsheela Kujur, Balwinder, S. Ranjita, Sarita Lakra, Guddi Kumari, Sushma Kiran Ming, Dimple Thakur, M. Prassana Laxmi, Anita Ekka, Saba Anjum, Aarti Sharma, Baljeet Kaur and Sarvjeet Kaur (forwards). M.K.
