LONDON: ``Small Island,'' Andrea Levy's saga of West Indian immigrants in post-War London, has won its third major literary trophy, the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. Organisers announced on Tuesday that London-born Levy had won the £10,000 best book prize in the competition, open to writers from the 53-nation Commonwealth. A best seller since its publication in Britain last year, ``Small Island'' follows two couples one Jamaican and one English whose lives intertwine in London after World War II. Daniel Massa, chair of the Commonwealth judging panel, praised Levy's ``consummate narrative skills in blending multiple voices in a framework resonant with humour, irony, understanding and a lot of fun.'' The Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, won the £3,000 first book prize for her novel ``Purple Hibiscus.'' AP
