Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, MARCH 30. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, has said that the Lt Governor, M.M. Lakhera, extended full cooperation to the Ministry for implementation of various measures in the tsunami-hit villages in Pondicherry and Karaikal regions. Winding up the two day debate on address of Lt Governor to the Assembly (delivered on March 23) the Chief Minister told the House today that the balanced development of all the four regions of Pondicherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam constituting the Union Territory was the objective of the Administration. The Government was also keen on creating new opportunities for the youth to relive them of agony of unemployment. A.Anbalagan (AIADMK) alleged that Pondicherry witnessed disjointed and chaotic style of working of the government machinery in implementing relief works and launching rehabilitation measures in the tsunami hit areas. Participating in the debate on motion of thanks to the Lt Governor for his address he said that the Chief Minister was virtually sidelined in the whole process of taking decisions on relief and implementing the steps to help the people. When he started making critical comments on Lt Governor in the context of the implementation of relief measures the Speaker M D R Ramachandran intervened and asked him to maintain restraint.
