KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 30. Disillusioned with party ideology, 17 naxalites of various outfits surrendered before the police here on Wednesday. They included Singarapu Srihari alias Shyam (24), Arelli Vijaya alias Vimala (22), Sunke Rajaiah alias Ravinder (28), Gillela Nagaraju alias Naresh (17), Suddala Laxmi alias Anitha (14), Sudati Ravi (23), Tallapally Ramesh alias Srinu (23), Kannam Rajaiah alias Kumar and Dadi Nagaraju (17), all belonging to the CPI (Maoist), the CPI-ML Janashakti Jagtial forest commander, Mudam Prasad alias Ravianna (25), and the dalam members -- Gatla Mallesham (25), Katla Suman (20), Gogu Ganapathi alias Ganesh (20), Thorrem Nagesh (23) and Banagiri Ravi (18). The CPI-ML Pratighatana naxalite, Marella Sadaiah alias Ramesh (35), also surrendered. Suddala Laxmi was forced to join the dalam from the interior Palimela village of Mahadevpur mandal due to pressure from the dalam commander, Zeelani Begum. Her brother, Shankar, who also joined the dalam, surrendered recently. She said that she surrendered owing to ill-health. Also, she was unable to withstand the rigours of life in the forest. The Superintendent of Police, Devendra Singh Chauhan, the Godavarikhani ASP, Ch. Srikanth, the Additional SP (administration), Sudarshan Reddy, were present.
