YSR's relative pulls out of power project
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
MARCH 30.
The promoter of the Swarna Mini Hydel Power Project near the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme in Karnataka, Y.V.Subba Reddy, has reportedly decided to pull out of the project at the behest of the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who is his relative.
Mr. Subba Reddy has approached the Karnataka Government to seek an alternative promoter citing his inability to go ahead with the project irrespective of the findings of the expert committee appointed by the Andhra Pradesh Government to study its impact on the farmers on Mahabubnagar district.
YSR counsels
The decision followed the counselling by the Chief Minister to Subba Reddy against insisting on going ahead with the project. The Chief Minister reportedly told him to bear the loss as he did not want the farmers of Mahabubnagar to entertain any doubts regarding his commitment to the farmers.
Irrespective of the findings of the committee and irrespective of the fact that the project was well within its technical limits the work should be dropped, he is learnt to have told him.
