Reshuffle of Central Secretaries

NEW DELHI,
MARCH 30.
V. K. Duggal, a senior IAS officer of the 1968 batch, will be the new Union Home Secretary, as reported yesterday.
An official announcement today said he succeeds Dhirendra Singh, who retires on March 31. Mr. Duggal, who belongs to the Union Territory cadre of IAS, was until now Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources.
His place will be taken by J. Harinarayan of Andhra Pradesh cadre, presently Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
Brijesh Kumar, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, will hold full additional charge as Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, and Chairman of the Telecommunications Commission.
D. K. Sankaran, now in his parent Maharashtra cadre, will succeed A. K. Rastogi as Secretary (Border Management), Home Ministry. Mr. Rastogi is retiring on Thursday.
Adarsh Misra, awaiting posting, has been appointed Adviser, Planning Commission, in the rank and pay of Secretary.
These high-level appointments have been cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet, the announcement said.
