BANGALORE, MARCH 30. The Bangalore district committee of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) has condemned the BMP's proposal to impose a new cess on infrastructure development and solid waste management. The BMP in its budget for 2005-06 announced that it would impose Rs. 50 to Rs. 300 on vehicle owners in the form of infrastructure levy. The SUCI has called upon the people to oppose the new proposal which is "anti-people." In a statement, B.R. Manjunath, secretary of the SUCI, Bangalore district committee, demanded that the BMP withdraw its new fiscal measures and concentrate on eliminating corruption.
