Lok Satta petition on civic polls admitted

HYDERABAD,
MARCH 30.
The writ petition filed by Lok Satta, seeking a direction for prompt conduct of elections to the local bodies in the State was admitted by the High Court on Wednesday.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Devinder Gupta, and Justice B. Sesha Sayana Reddy, was dealing with a writ petition filed by Ankiah, general secretary, Lok Satta. Mr. Ankiah sought a declaration to the effect that the State Election Commission alone is empowered to conduct elections to the local bodies.
A direction to the respondent authorities to conduct elections to all the local bodies in time was sought.
The case was admitted and listed for April 4.
