Bid to kill trader, six held

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, MARCH 30. The Jubilee Hills police on Wednesday arrested six persons on charges of attempting to murder a trader, Megharaj, at Karmikanagar, five weeks ago.

The prime accused in the case, Pichchi Srinu, had already surrendered in a local court three days ago.

History-sheets were being opened against five of the arrested, the West Zone DCP, N. Sanjay, told reporters here today. A history-sheet had already been opened against the sixth person and Srinu's younger brother, Laxman.

Srinu bore a grudge against Megharaj as the latter's father Lakshma Das, had refused to pay Rs. 10,000 as demanded by him. In December last, he had attacked Megharaj and even tried to assault the latter's sister when she intervened.

Srinu had then surrendered in court in that case and since then was trying to take vengeance on Megharaj. On February 24, Srinu along with his accomplices went to the trader's house and attacked him with swords.
