This Day That Age
The Afghan Charge d' Affaires at Karachi has been instructed by his Government to lodge a strong protest with the Pakistan Government against the proposed merger of "the territories of occupied and free Pakthoonistan" with the one-unit Pakistan. The Afghan Prime Minister, Sardar Mohamed Daud, in a broadcast said the Charge d' Affaires would return to Kabul if his efforts were not successful. In Kabul, 12 policemen and 35 demonstrators were injured in day-long clashes in front of the Pakistan Embassy on March 30 when Pathans tried to tear down the Pakistani flag. The Afghan Government has banned demonstrations and ordered the police to shoot at sight to maintain order. A heavy police and military guard has been placed outside the Pakistan Embassy and staff quarters.
