This Day That Age
Mr. S.S. Vasan was re-elected President of the Film Federation of India for the second time at its annual general meeting in Bombay on March 30. Mr. B.N. Sircar and Mr. M.B. Billimoria were elected Vice-Presidents and Mr. A.V. Meiyappan was chosen Treasurer. Addressing the meeting, Mr. Vasan said there was a clear case for including in the Second Plan the development of cinema, particularly in the rural areas."We shall attempt to bring to the notice of the proper authorities how encouragement of indigenous entertainment would lead to increased employment. I am happy to say that effective spadework has been done by way of public relations during the last 14 months since we met in Calcutta. Much of the misconception about the industry has been removed."
