Media matters

Sir, — This refers to the article, "Exposes and stings" (Magazine, March 27). It argues that media establishments should ensure a minimum threshold of decency. But how does one arrive at it? By not publishing or by blacking out something, a publication or a television channel is only denying its readers/viewers news. The world is ugly and the ugliness does not go away if you turn away. Toeing a meek line of decency at the cost of content is a great disservice to consumers of the media.
