Letters to the Editor
Sir, O.V. Vijayan strode like a colossus on the Indian literary scene. During the Emergency, his political satire, Dharmapuranam, criticised the powers that be fearlessly. His cartoons of the time show a rare insight and an in-depth knowledge of the Indian political class. Vijayan was a rare individual: he practised what he preached. In his death, we have lost a great visionary and a human being.
