Isolated rain likely in T.N.

CHENNAI, MARCH 31. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema, Telangana, Lakshadweep and Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are: Sankarankoil (Tirunelveli dt.) 6, Kanjirapally (Kottayam dt.) 5, Kodaikanal 4, Karur and Palani (both Dindugal dt.) 3 each, Nagerkoil (Kanyakumari dt.) and Sivakasi (Virudunagar dt.) 2 each and Ayikudi (Tirunelveli dt.), Coimbatore Airport and Virudunagar 1 each.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature rose appreciably at one or two places over south interior Karnataka, interior Tamil Nadu, rose at one or two places over north interior Tamil Nadu, south coastal Tamil Nadu, rest south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, fell at one or two places over north coastal Tamil Nadu and changed little elsewhere over the region.

They were markedly to appreciably above normal at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, at one or two places over Karnataka, Telangana, above normal at one or two places over rest Karnataka, rest Tamil Nadu, Kerala, rest Rayalaseema coastal Andhra Pradesh and were generally normal over the rest of the region.

FORECAST (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, south interior Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Rayalaseema, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka.
