TUTICORIN, MARCH 31 . The by-elections to the posts of three panchayat presidents, 17 village panchayat ward members and four panchayat union ward members will be held on April 14. Collectorate sources told mediapersons on Wednesday that candidates interested in contesting the elections should procure the nomination forms/papers from March 31 to April 7. Nomination papers for the post of panchayat president and panchayat union ward members could be obtained from the offices of the Block Development Officer in the respective areas, whereas those who are contesting for the ward member post in the panchayats should obtain nomination papers from the village panchayat offices. The elections to the post of panchayat presidents will be held in Periyathalai, Vellalanvilai and Pillayarnatham panchayats. Among the four panchayat union ward members' post, the one at Alwarthirunageri (ward 12) was reserved for women. The last date for filing the nominations was April 7 and the scrutiny of the papers will take place on April 8. Those who want to withdraw their nominations should do it on or before 3 p.m on April 11.
