THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 31. The Congress MLA M. P. Gangadharan has demanded the ouster of K. C. Joseph from his post as secretary of the Congress Legislature Party for his unsubstantiated allegations against him and P. P. George, CLP Chief Whip. In a complaint to the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Gangadharan contended that the accusations against the two senior party leaders violated the party's disciplinary provisions. He wanted Mrs. Gandhi to direct Mr. Joseph to withdraw his statement in public besides seeking his removal. Addressing a press conference here today, Mr. Gangadharan suspected a conspiracy in the attempts to tarnish him and Mr. George, both prominent members of the Karunakaran faction. He said that the allegations were intended to turn the party workers against the faction. He also stated that Mr. Joseph did not have the authority to hold a press conference and express his opinion on an issue that had neither been discussed at the CLP meeting nor had the clearance of the party leadership. He said the KPCC sub-committee, with Mr. George as convener, held seven sittings that were attended by the KPCC president, Thennala Balakrishna Pillai. Mr. George had presented the party's case before the Delimitation Commission as approved by the KPCC. As far as he was concerned, Mr. Joseph had not contacted him with suggestions he might have had in relation to the delimitation process in Kannur district. He said the Commission has been publishing the draft proposals from time to time after the end of each sitting. Mr. Joseph was totally unaware of the Commission's way of functioning. He said that the party still had the opportunity of having its voice heard at the time of the proposed public meeting later next month and also at the subsequent sittings with the associate members. Mr. Gangadharan also sent the copy of his complaint to Mrs. Gandhi, the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, K. Karunakaran, A. K. Antony and Mr. Thennala Balakrishna Pillai.
