Guntur
By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR, MARCH 31. A Congress leader of Pinnelli village in Machavaram mandal of Guntur district was allegedly hacked to death on Thursday by some unidentified persons. The 75-year-old Congress leader, Kasarla Rami Reddy, was done to death in front of his house in a cattle shed this afternoon while he was taking a nap after his lunch, the police said. About 20 people arrived with pickaxes and other weapons as he was alleged to have masterminded the killing of Boya Jeeva of Telugu Desam Party and attempt on the life of Isram Mutyalu. The Sattenapalli Deputy Superintendent of Police, K. Veerabhadra Rao, and the Circle Inspector of Police, Sheik Babu, visited the village and are investigating the case. The inter-party rivalry for a long time was the likely reason for the attack, the police said though it had not arrested anyone so far.
