Fears over security of bus passengers
By Luv Puri
JAMMU,
MARCH 31.
Political parties here have expressed fears over the safety of the passengers of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus. The terrorists had warned that any violator of their diktat would be killed.
The National Conference president, Omar Abdullah, was surprised as to how the terrorists got hold of the list of passengers.
The legislators of Rajouri-Poonch tract, from where the main chunk of passengers is travelling in the bus, have also expressed fears. Most of the divided families in the State live in Rajouri-Poonch area.
Ghulam Mohammad Jan, MLA Haveli of Poonch district said: "In the short run there would not be any problem and these passengers would reach their respective destinations. The real fear is what is going to happen in the long run as these travellers would always be prone to threat from the terrorists. We may be able to protect the politicians travelling across the Line of Control but what about the ordinary people."
Mushtaq Bukhari, another MLA from Poonch, said, "there should be a probe as to how the list reached the militants."
