LIC staff observe strike

By Our Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 31. Employees of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) observed a day's strike on Thursday in response to the call given by the All-India Insurance Employees Association. They took out a rally in front of LIC building under the leadership of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions president, Ch. Narsinga Rao, demanding immediate revision of wages, unlinked with mobility, outsourcing and the like.

The Insurance Corporation Employees Union president and general secretary, K. Mohan Rao and B.B. Ganesh, said that LIC wage revision was due from August 1, 2002. Despite huge profits, the management was not implementing wage revision, they alleged.
